New Child Care Resources Now Available to Support Hamilton Families

Umbrella Family and Child Centres of Hamilton is pleased to share new resources developed by the City of Hamilton to support families accessing child care in our community.
In 2023, the City of Hamilton launched a community engagement plan to guide the local implementation of the Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) system. Through partnerships with local community-based services, the City gathered feedback from over 330 families. This engagement provided valuable insights into the needs and experiences of families navigating child care in Hamilton.
Building on this work, the City conducted additional community consultations in 2024, again collaborating with organizations that serve diverse families across the city. The goal was to ensure the CWELCC implementation continues to reflect and respond to the voices of the families it is meant to serve.
As a result of this engagement, several helpful resources are now available:
- 2024 Community Engagement 1 Page Summary-English
A snapshot of the key themes and feedback gathered from families in 2024. - 2023 Community Engagement Storyboard-English
- A visual summary of the 2023 engagement results, which align closely with the 2024 feedback and offer continued insight into family priorities.
- Community Booklet
A detailed listing of child care programs in Hamilton, including contact information and service details, that will be updated twice a year. - Service Navigation Guide
Created in response to family-identified barriers, this guide lists community resources, descriptions of services, and up-to-date contact information to help families more easily navigate supports
At Umbrella, we are committed to helping families access the information and support they need to make informed child care decisions. We encourage families to explore these resources and share them with others who may benefit.
