Shawna has been working in the field of early learning for over 17 years. Since joining Umbrella Family and Child Centres of Hamilton, she has worked as a supply staff, a before and after school educator, a satellite Program Leader, a Supervisor, and a Program Manager. She has experience teaching at the College level and has also worked as a Pedagogical Leader.  Shawna is a Registered Early Childhood Educator and holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology and Psychology.  She is very pleased to assume the new position of Director of Child Care Programs.

Developing high-quality, inclusive programs for children and their families has always been a priority for Shawna.  She values the opportunity to examine best practice and work with others—Umbrella staff members and community partners—toward a common goal, understanding that ‘it takes a village to raise a child’.

As the Director of Child Care Programs, Shawna will provide strategic direction, leadership, and overall operational oversight to all Umbrella Family child care programs.
